Through the years of its existence, the show has been critically acclaimed. It has released a few spin-offs, holiday specials, video games, and books. Despite its controversial content and dark humor, the show has been nominated for 12 Emmy Awards and 11 Annie Awards. Moreover, a few years ago, it was ranked as the ninth Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time. This is an excellent achievement considering the popularity of the genre in recent decades.
