Marvel Cinematic has given us 23 incredible movies (and several TV series) telling the stories of our favorite superheroes. In recent years, it's turned into the most popular superhero universe released on screen. We get to reacquaint with the most popular comic characters from our childhoods and see them in a modern setting. Isn't it exciting?
In this Marvel quiz, we'll look at the Cinematic Universe exclusively, also known as Earth-199999. It covers our real universe's alternative history starting from the big bang and even diving a bit in the future. Most significant historical events have retained their outcomes. But, on Earth-199999, superheroes, magic, and space have played a major role in many even before everybody learned the truth.
This is the world where superheroes and supervillains (and many regular bad guys) have been fighting for a long time. And the struggle will not cease. Thus, we can expect many upcoming titles as long as the audience is interested in Marvel characters.
And while we await the major hits of the Fourth Phase that starts with the release of Black Widow this year and Eternals early next year. Let's remember how the whole interconnected universe came to existence. This MCU quiz will help you with that! And when was the first time you've noticed major Easter Eggs and familiar characters in Marvel movies?
The Creation of MCU
MCU was created by Marvel Studios that's owned by the Walt Disney Company. You may also know that though the major events of MCU are depicted in the movies, there are also series. Quite a few TV shows are a part of it but tell minor stories compared to the films. The series are the products of the sub-division, Marvel Television. Combined, they create a complex universe where one event has an impact on all others. So far, we can only praise the intricate continuity of Earth-199999.
It all started in 2008 with the release of Iron Man. A month later, we saw The Incredible Hulk. That's the beginning of the First Phase of the Infinity Saga as it is called now. It consists of three stages leading to the epic Endgame.
Probably the most frequent question about the MCU is whether the universe was planned before the first movie. Did the creators plan to connect a vast number of titles into one giant setting from the start?
From the first couple of movies, we see references to the more prominent aspects of the universe and the after-credits leading up to the Avengers. Yes, Marvel had full intentions to combine many of its superheroes in an epic pay-off right from the start.
In fact, nobody thought that Iron Man would become the poster character for MCU at first. Compared to the fairly popular then X-Men heroes, Iron Man was a second-tier character. The movie's unexpected success and the unanimous fan love for Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal determined the future course of the Avengers and many Marvel quizzes.
As of 2020, we have reached the Fourth Phase of the story. The stories of several beloved superheroes are over, but we await the new faces and names just as eagerly.
